One hundredth day of work selfie

After all that colour, I thought I would go back to classic black and white.  I got this dress from the Guess outlet store in Las Vegas last year.  It’s a really nice summer dress, but I don’t wear it that often because I don’t wear white that often.  Because I’m a messy person and white always gets dirty.  Like I just noticed a tiny blue spot at the bottom of the dress.  I have no idea what it is.  Nail polish maybe?  I can’t think of any other blue substance this dress may have come into contact with.  It’s very small and unnoticeable though, thankfully.  Wait, I think I’ve gone and stained it slightly in another spot with avocado from lunch.  Damnit.  I knew this would happen.

My black blazer is new.  I got it from Winners.  It was just so snazzy looking that I had to try it on.  I had intended to save it for the fall, but it was cool enough out today that I thought I would bring it out early.  Everyone needs a black blazer as part of their professional wardrobe.

I got my necklace from Sears and my earrings from Payless.  My shiny bracelet is from Car Free Day on Main Street and my shiny black ring is from Carnaval del Sol at Conford Pacific Place.  Black and white doesn’t have to be dull if you glam it up a bit.

Sixtieth day of work selfie

It was kind of chilly this morning, so I kind of wished I’d worn a blazer instead of just grabbing a random sweater.  But the weather is actually really nice right now so I have no regrets about my decision.  I decided to repeat another black dress with flowers on it, this time from Suzy Shier.  You can never have too many black dresses with flowers on them.  I paired it with my purple H&M sweater, which I’ve been making good use of since purchasing it a couple months ago.  I like that it’s the same type of purple as the purple flowers on my dress.  Next time I wear this dress, I will pick a different flower colour and choose a sweater accordingly.  My beaded necklace, zipper earrings, and flower bracelet are all from Claire’s and my ring is from The UBC student union building.  I wonder if there are any jewellery vendors in the new student building right now.  I’ve yet to enter the new building, partly because I don’t feel like walking over there, and partly because I’m annoyed that it’s so nice and spacious and I totally could have used a building like that when I was a student, but have no need for it anymore.  I already work in a nice building, so I don’t really need to go all the way over there just to be in another nice building.  I think I’ll wait until I hear about any jewellery vendors being in there, and then I’ll maybe drop in and have a look.

Fiftieth day of work selfie

Since Wednesday was supposed to be another cold and possibly rainy day, I reluctantly decided to wear pants, despite the fact that I had shaved my legs just a few days earlier.  These black pants are from Target and are a bit lighter than my Marshalls ones.  I got this top at Sears at Richmond Centre not too long before they closed.  My dad put it on his Sears card so it would be cheaper.  Thanks Dad!  Since the weather was cooler, I decided on my red Vero Moda blazer from The Bay.  This worked well, since these pants lack pockets, but this blazer has quite spacious ones.  My black scarf is from an Orb warehouse sale, my red video game heart necklace is from Fan Expo Vancouver, my red earrings are from a kiosk at Lansdowne Centre, my ring is from UBC, and my bracelet is from Dollarama.  It had also been five days since I’d washed my hair, and I didn’t plan on doing so anytime soon.  Whenever I happen to take the time to straighten my hair, I like to wait as long as I possibly can in order to prolong the effects.

Forty-fifth day of work selfie

Of course I had to wear my grey Vero Moda blazer from London Drugs again.  The only thing I don’t like about this blazer is that the pockets are fake.  I love pockets because I always have random stuff with me and they always come in handy, so fake pockets are kind of like a slap in the face.  But it’s okay.  They are forgiven, because this blazer is otherwise just so fabulous.  I feel like this grey goes well with navy, so I paired it with this navy top that I got at La Vie En Rose.  I suppose it’s technically meant as a pajama top or loungewear or whatever, but I felt like it was too nice to have its use be limited to just in the house.  I wanted a really light scarf for that day so I chose my rainbow looking one from the UBC Sub.  And I decided to wear my Swarovski necklace again with my Payless earrings, UBC Sub ring, and Suzy Shier bracelet.  And Marshalls pants.I’m going to miss wearing blazers when the weather gets too hot.

Forty-fourth day of work selfie

When I came home from work that day, my sister asked me if I’ve been wearing more suits lately.  I told her I don’t wear suits.  I guess she meant blazers.  Which I guess I have been wearing more often.  Apparently she’s noticed.  I’ve had this black blazer from Bryan’s for a while now but had yet to wear it.   It’s kind of looser fitting than my other blazers, but I like it.  I like being able to look professional without looking super feminine sometimes.  I got this red shirt at Dynamite a while ago and this was my first time wearing it as well.  It was a little wrinkled, but you can’t tell because I covered it up.  My red scarf is from a kiosk in Metrotown, and my red heart necklace, which is unfortunately blocked by my scarf, is from Carleton Cards and has my birthstone.  I like buying jewellery from places you wouldn’t expect.

Forty-third day of work selfie

I am just so in love with this colour.  This bright royal blue is my absolute favourite.  I bought this blazer when I was shopping with my friend at Forever 21 downtown on Robson street on St. Patrick’s Day.  Yeah, while everyone else was out drinking in bars, we were out shopping for clothes.  Because that’s what we do.  It was the day before my last day of work at my previous job and I thought I ought to buy some more professional looking clothing for my new job.  This blazer didn’t have a price tag on it, but it turned out to be a decent price for a blazer.   I remember while we were there, my friend found a shirt that said “Leave me alone” and suggested I should wear it as a joke on my last day of work.  Unfortunately, they didn’t have it in my size.

I got the black top at Sears at Richmond Centre before they closed down.  I think my dad actually bought it for me because he had a Sears card so he could get a discount.  My navy blue floral scarf is probably the best thing I ordered from Avon.

I got this necklace from Her Story Lockets when they had a booth set up at the PNE Marketplace last year.  You get to choose which charms you want to put inside the locket to create your own unique, personalized look.  I bought some for friends and family as well, because I think it’s really neat idea and makes a cool gift for someone when you can use charms that reflect who they are.  Mine include shoes, shopping bags, a big sister heart, a camera, and my birthstone. I wish I could find more items in this kind of blue.

Forty-second day of work selfie

Yes, I own two of the same blazer in different colours.  After finding that green Vero Moda blazer at Winners, I discovered that The Bay had it in red.  Red is just so bold and bright and wanted to add more of it to my wardrobe.  But that mint green blazer was such a lovely colour too.  I debated briefly and then decided to purchase the red one as well.  One can never have too many Vero Moda blazers.  I just feel ready to take on the world when I wear it.  I got this black top from H&M.  I think it was at the one at West Edmonton Mall actually.  I’ve only been there once.  I was there for my brother’s and sister’s youth bowling tournament when they made it to the Nationals.  My dad was a coach and so they needed another adult to stay with them while he went to meetings.  So I got to spend 3 days standing in a bowling alley.  But on the first day, we had free time to briefly visit the mall.  I remember I almost bought this top in green, but I’m glad I decided on the black.  I remember there was no PST because it was Alberta so I was pleasantly surprised.  My video game heart necklace is from Fan Expo Expo Vancouver and my red earrings are from a kiosk at Lansdowne Centre.
