I told you I’ve been wearing more pink this summer. My sister gave me this dress for my birthday last year. She has good taste. I mean, of course she has good taste, she borrows my clothes sometimes. She got it at Bryan’s. I think she actually bought it for herself and then didn’t like the way it looked on her and then decided to gift it to me. But whatever. She’s really into rainbow designs. I wore this dress to the Vancouver Pride Parade last year because it’s so rainbow like.
My pink cardigan is from the Plenty warehouse sale at the Vancouver Convention Centre during Easter long weekend. My necklace and earrings are both from Payless. My bracelet is from Sears and my ring is from the Blim Market street festival downtown last month. I’m kind of liking my hair being dirty and messy. It kind of works. Or maybe it doesn’t. But whatever.
I don’t know where I got this light pink top from. I’m going to take a guess and say Urban Planet? The navy blue cardigan is from Bryan’s and the black pants are from Old Navy. I got my necklace from my favourite street vendor at Greek Day on Broadway and I got my earrings from another vendor at Car Free Day on Main Street. My bracelet is from Suzy Shier. My black ring is from my favourite street vendor who was also at Carnaval Del Sol. I thought I would give my ring finger a rest and accessorize my middle finger instead.
I got this light blue and orange floral top at Bryan’s at Lansdowne Centre. I haven’t shopped there in a while, but I used to buy stuff there all the time. My black pants are from Old Navy at Richmond Centre. My blue sweater and my blue bracelet are from the Sears that used to be at Richmond Centre. My blue flower necklace is from UBC and my green ring is from Greek Day. I’m still in search of a blue one.
I thought I would wear something red in my outfit today since tomorrow is Canada Day. I don’t know if you can tell but if you look closely you can see that my earrings are little Canada flags. I found them at Claire’s and thought they were cute. My red top is from Suzy Shier from several years ago. I just bought this skirt at Old Navy over the weekend. I think it may actually be the only skirt I have that fits me right now. Wearing dresses is so much easier. Less pieces of clothing to put together. My outfit doesn’t even really match right now but oh well. I was trying to find a sweater this morning and my mom looked outside and was like “Does it look like you need a sweater?”. But I explained that I like to wear one in the office because the temperature is good inside the building. I just grabbed this black Bryan’s cardigan before I left the house.
I unfortunately did not get a matching Canada flag necklace to go with my earrings, so I wore this key and rose Claire’s necklace instead. My bracelet is from Dollarama and my purple ring is from Boca Raton Designs at Greek Day. Yes, I’m still wearing it even though it’s too tight. I tried contacting the vendor, because I have his business card but I haven’t received a response. I don’t expect him to take it back, but it would be nice if he could let me exchange the second ring I bought, which seems to be even tighter than this one. Also I got my eyebrows done last week if anyone cares. Can you even tell or should I not have bothered?
Another blue dress from a street festival. I got this one at Italian Day on Commercial Drive a couple weekends ago, along with the green dress that I wore last week. The styles are similar, but different enough that I was fine with getting both. I really like this colour blue and the designs that are on this dress. It would’ve matched really well with the sweater I wore yesterday, but I didn’t want to wear the same sweater two days in a row if I could help it. Instead, I paired it with this brown cardigan that I got from Bryan’s at Lansdowne Centre, since there is also brown in the dress. My necklace is from Her Story Lockets and I got it at the PNE last year. I actually ran into the girl who runs that business during Car Free Day on Denman Street and she remembered me because I was such a loyal customer. My earrings are new, I got them at Car Free Day on Main Street on Sunday. My ring is from UBC and my bracelet is from Sears. And my nails are still looking good because I touched the up a little bit. I may end up wearing even more blue outfits this week, because it’s my favourite colour, but also because I want my clothes to match my nails. I guess purple would work too because they’re kind of purplish. Or you know, I’ll just wear a different colour entirely. Because really, who cares?
When I came home from work that day, my sister asked me if I’ve been wearing more suits lately. I told her I don’t wear suits. I guess she meant blazers. Which I guess I have been wearing more often. Apparently she’s noticed. I’ve had this black blazer from Bryan’s for a while now but had yet to wear it. It’s kind of looser fitting than my other blazers, but I like it. I like being able to look professional without looking super feminine sometimes. I got this red shirt at Dynamite a while ago and this was my first time wearing it as well. It was a little wrinkled, but you can’t tell because I covered it up. My red scarf is from a kiosk in Metrotown, and my red heart necklace, which is unfortunately blocked by my scarf, is from Carleton Cards and has my birthstone. I like buying jewellery from places you wouldn’t expect.
While I love colourful things, sometimes simple, classic black and white is just perfect for the day. I think I got this top with the black and white stripes from Suzy Shier. I love that it’s more than just basic stripes, and how they go every which way. I have dress with a similar pattern to this one. I think the zipper is a nice added touch, even though it serves no purpose other than to just be there. My black Bryan’s cardigan is my go to piece when I’m not sure what else might match a shirt or dress. I think my fancy necklace from the Steveston Community Centre Christmas craft fair compliments this outfit nicely. My small, circular earring studs have the letter D on them. I got these initial earrings at Icing. Maybe I felt like wearing black and white that day because I’d just watched a Michael Jackson documentary that weekend?
I wanted another fun outfit that day because I was going to a Neil Diamond concert after work. And yes, I’m pretty sure I was the youngest person there. I got this dress at H&M. I actually wore it to my interview for my current job but with a different sweater. So it has to be lucky or something, right? Or maybe I just feel really confident when I wear it? Is it weird that I love a dress with birds on it when in reality I actually hate birds and find them super annoying? I repeated my purple Jacob sweater and my grey Bryan’s leggings (pretty much the only leggings I own that currently fit). My aunt gave me these silver earrings as a birthday present one year and I think they might be my favourite pair. I love that they’re big enough to stand out, but not so big that they’re too heavy or obnoxious. I decided to wear two bracelets that day, because, yay, concert! One is from Claire’s and one might be from the dollar store. The necklace is also from Claire’s and the ring is from UBC.
Looking at the photo, it almost looks like some of the birds on the dress are dying, rather than flying. Or maybe I’m just seeing it that way because I hate birds?
Oh my God, I’m actually wearing pants! I may or may not have run out of dresses at this point. Or the weather was getting better and I didn’t want to wear boots but I couldn’t find flats or other appropriate shoes to go with my dresses. My toenails are not currently ready for the public. Do you ever get annoyed and clip them, but then you keep going and clip them too close to the skin, and not even evenly? Or is that just something weird that I do? The point is, they’re too short right now, and my pinky toes barely even have a nail. I’ll have to wait until they grow to a decent length and then get myself a pedicure before I bust out the sandals. Also, I haven’t shaved my legs and the one pair of leggings I have are kind of thick, so yeah. Pants! I got these black pants the one time my friend took me to Marshalls after Pirate Pak Day at Whitespot. The purple top is from Ross Dress for Less in the States and the black cardigan is from Bryan’s at Lansdowne Centre. The scarf is from an Orb Warehouse sale. I guess I used to always buy scarves when I went to those. The necklace is from a Christmas craft fair I went to at Steveston Community Centre with my parents last year. I like that it’s adjustable so you can wear it at various lengths, long or short. Plus, it’s got just the right amount of bling. You can’t really tell from the picture, but my Claire’s earrings are in the shape of little black safety pins. And for added bling, my UBC SUB ring and my dollar store bracelet. Because that’s how classy I am.
I hate pants because it’s so damn hard to find a pair that actually fit. So you’ll likely be seeing a lot of these ones until I miraculously find a new pair.
I got this purple sweater dress from Bryan’s. I remember one time I wore it with a belt, and then I took the bus, and then when I got off the bus, I realized I was no longer wearing the belt. Sadly, the clasp had come undone, unbeknownst to me. And I couldn’t find a replacement belt the day I wore it here, so I used safety pins to secure the front. Because I’m resourceful like that. Like MacGyver. I don’t know where I got the navy cardigan from. Possible also from Bryan’s. I used to buy a lot of stuff there, at the Lansdowne Centre location. I remember my friend saying she wonders how they’re still in business. Probably because of people like me. This navy blue scarf with the flowers came in a three pack from Avon. Which I’m still selling, if anyone cares. I’m assuming no one does. I don’t even care. There’s only so much makeup and random stuff you can order for yourself before you realize you’re not really benefiting from this. My silver heart necklace is from Payless. Yes, I buy jewellery at a shoe store. Because they have a decent selection of nickel free jewellery. And it was shiny. I bought this pair of wing earrings from a booth at Fan Expo Vancouver this year. It was listed under Supernatural jewellery. Because they’re supposed to represent Castiel. I also bought a matching necklace, which I’ll be sure to wear another time. Of all the fandoms, Supernatural is my favourite. They have their own convention in August, which I kind of want to go to, although I heard from a friend that the people there tend to be crazier than the ones at Fan Expo. And it’s kind of pricey. So we shall see.
I’m glad it’s spring and it’s sunny and the weather’s nice, but a small part of me wishes I could go back to the cooler months and wear more of my sweater dresses.
