This dress isn’t new, I just haven’t worn it in a while. I got it at Suzy Shier a few years ago. Pink and orange have never really been colours I wear a lot of, although I have been wearing more pink this summer. I don’t own very many orange clothes. But I like this dress. My navy blue cardigan is from La Vie En Rose. I don’t have any orange sweaters, and I felt if I wore my pink one it would just be too bright of an outfit. My pink flip flop necklace is from UBC and my pink flip flop earrings are from Claire’s. I really like these pieces of jewellery because they showcase my love for shoes without me having to actually buy a new pair of shoes. My pink bracelet is from a Christmas craft fair at Steveston Community centre in Richmond last year and my orange ring is from the Greek Day street festival on West Broadway in June.
I love long dresses because you don’t have to shave and no one will know. Unless you decide to blog about how you haven’t shaved. I got this long dress at the Khatsahlano Street Festival on West 4th last month. I’m used to buying a lot of shorter dresses, so this one was kind of different and I loved the colour scheme. When I left the house this morning, my dad asked “New dress?” and I said “What do you mean by new?” and he said “You haven’t worn it to work yet?” and I said “Yeah.” How much time has to pass before an item is no longer considered new?
I got this purple sweater at H&M at Richmond Centre. My black necklace is from Claire’s and my black bracelet is from a Christmas craft fair at Stevetson Community Centre in Richmond last year. My purple clothespin earrings and my purple ring are both from Greek Day on Broadway. Sadly, my hair is no longer straight. Because I washed it again and it takes a long ass time just to dry, so forget straightening. But I think it’s still slightly less messy than it was when it was longer.
I got this long dress at Ross Dress For Less in the States a few years ago but I never really wore it. I’m just not used to long dresses, but I’m beginning to like them more now. My black cardigan is from Sirens. My pink flip flop necklace is from UBC and my pink flip flop earrings are from Claire’s. My bracelet is from a Christmas craft fair at Steveston Community Centre in Richmond and my ring is from the Greek Day street festival on West Broadway. My nails still match this outfit because there is a little bit of blue in my dress.
I thought I’d wear another one of my colourful dresses again. It’s possible that I got this dress from Winners but I’m really not sure. I guess we’ll never know. I got the sweater from H&M. My pink bracelet is from a Christmas craft fair at Steveston Community Centre in Richmond. My black beaded necklace and my small hoop earrings are from Claire’s. And my ring is from Boca Raton Designs at Greek Day. The guy eventually did respond to my message and said I could still exchange the rings for a bigger size at his next event. But I’m not sure what his next event will be. And I’ve already worn them. And once the heat subsides, they may not be too tight. So whatever.
I know it’s hot as hell today, but I didn’t feel like shaving so I’m wearing pants. Besides, I said I didn’t want to let the weather dictate my choice of clothing. If I’d read the news before I left the house this morning, I probably would’ve worn something rainbow coloured to celebrate marriage equality in the States. I got this top at a department store called Red Apple in Revelstoke. I went there with my family a couple years ago because my dad had a reunion with some of his high school buddies. I don’t think I could ever live in a small town. Shopping wise, I was like “This is it?”. Red Apple is kind of like a Winners or a Walmart, but smaller with not as much stuff. But I managed to pick up few nice things there, this top included. My mint green cardigan is from Jacob and my black pants are from Winners. My Swarovski necklace was a Christmas gift from my cousins. My bracelet is from Sears and my ring is from UBC. These earrings are new. I got them at Payless, along with some other BOGO jewellery over the weekend. I guess maybe I’ll shave tomorrow and start wearing dresses again. Maybe.
It’s usually cold in the morning, but I thought it would get too hot later in the day for a jean jacket. But then I decided that I didn’t care because I really wanted to wear it. I love my denim jackets. I got this one from Old Navy. I usually like my denim in the darkest wash possible, but I like this one too. I shaved my legs a bit better this morning so I could wear a shorter dress. I made the mistake of shaving my underarms and then putting on deodorant. It burned. I won’t be making that mistake again. Except that I most likely, probably, definitely will. This black dress is from Stitches. I used to wear it a lot when I worked at Jacob Lingerie, because of our all black dress code. I had to wear a tank top under it today since I don’t quite fill it out enough. I think I made it work without one at Jacob Lingerie, since I invested in a lot of good pushup bras during my time there. And when you work at a lingerie store, plunging necklines aren’t a problem. This red necklace was a gift from my grandma. My bracelet is from Suzy Shier and my ring is from UBC. I don’t know if you can see my metal earrings, but one is the shape of a toothbrush, and the other is the shape of a tube of toothpaste. Because why not? I bought them at a Christmas craft fair at South Arm Community Centre last year. I wore them to my last dentist appointment because I could. That was a horrible appointment though, because I had to get a wisdom tooth removed, and I was awake, T3s don’t work for me so I had no painkillers, they had to cut away a lot of gums, and it was painful. I hate dentists. So I don’t know why I’d want a reminder of them in the form of jewellery. It seemed like a good idea at the time.
This wasn’t what I was originally going to wear today, but I had some unforeseen issues with my initial outfit and this was the next best option. I think I got this dress at Winners. I hate birds, but I love the bright colours on this dress. I got the black sweater at Sears. I have a lot of black sweaters but this is the only one I could find this morning. My pink flip-flop necklace is from a jewellery vendor at the UBC student union building. It was this necklace that initially drew my attention to that tables, where I then ended up buying three other necklaces and two rings, including the black one I’m wearing here. I don’t know if you can tell, but my little green earrings from Claire’s are also in the shape of flip-flops. I got my pink bracelet from a Christmas craft fair at Steveston Community Centre in Richmond. They threw in the bracelet for free because I’d purchased a few of their necklaces, so this was a nice added bonus.
So I wore a dress with no leggings on Tuesday, not realizing how cold it actually was. What a fail. If there was ever a day when I should have worn pants, that was probably it. But my leg hair was growing back fast, and I wanted to go bare legged while I still could without having to shave again. I’m stubborn that way. I don’t dress based on the weather. I dress based on whether or not I’ve shaved, and based on what clean clothes I can find that sort of match. I knew it might be cold and rainy that day, but I didn’t care.
This dress is slightly longer than my other dresses, so somehow I thought that would make it more weather appropriate. I got it at an Orb warehouse sale at the River Rock Casino. I feel like I should be wearing a cowboy hat or something, just because I’m wearing denim. When I was in high school, at an all girls school, they had an idea one year that they would make Valentine’s Day fun by making it a “couples day”, where you could find a partner and dress as some sort of famous couple. My friend and I did Brokeback Mountain. I was Heath Ledger. And I was amazing. But we unfortunately didn’t win a prize for our awesome efforts. Probably because it was also a Catholic school and they weren’t ready to accept our same sex love story.
Anyway, I love jean jackets. I got this one at Old Navy on Robson Street downtown when I had leftover super cash to spend. I didn’t want to wear an actual rain jacket or anything even though it was cold, because it’s June and I’ve set aside the boots and the jackets. But this jean jacket seemed acceptable. It looks as though I haven’t quite set aside the scarves just as yet. At least not for cold days. I got this one from a vendor at the UBC Sub. I got the red necklace as a Christmas gift from my grandma. The Supernatural wing earrings are from Fan Expo Vancouver, my ring is from UBC, and my bracelet is from Suzy Shier. I thought about touching up my nails, but I think they’re too far gone now so I’ll just let them keep chipping away until there’s nothing left to see.
I really like blue when it comes to clothing. I got this dress at an Orb Warehouse sale and I think I got the cardigan from Ross. The scarf is actually my mom’s. My sister gave it to her for Christmas. She gave me one too, but it was red and black and didn’t match this particular outfit. I think she go it from Ardene, which has some fairly decent stuff if you look for it. I’m still not okay with buying actual clothes from there though. Except I have bought yoga stuff there before which wasn’t bad. I only have one long blue necklace but it’s not the right shade of blue for this outfit, so I opted for my silver, nickel free Payless heart.
