Eighty-fourth day of work selfie

It was cold this morning so I wore darker colours.  The black dress is from Stitches, the purple tank top is from Smart Set, and the purple jacket is from a Plenty warehouse sale.  My purple necklace is new, I got it from the Blim Market festival downtown on Sunday.  My purple earrings are also new, I got them from Claire’s on Sunday.  My black bracelet is also from Claire’s.  I still need to find a purple one.  My purple ring is from Greek Day on Broadway.  And my #SELFIE iPhone case is from Aldo.

Sixty-third day of work selfie

I got this beautiful blue dress at Car Free Day on Denman Street on Saturday.  I bought three dresses from this one booth.  Unlike at Italian Day, where I just guessed about the fit, I totally tried these dresses on first, right there on the street, over my clothes, and had my friend there to help me decide if they looked okay.   And they did.  They had this dress in other colours too, but of course I had to get it in my favourite blue.  I love the design in the middle too.  And it matches perfectly with my blue Forever 21 sweater.

And I just happened to buy some new blue jewellery over the weekend as well.  I got this necklace at Payless in Lansdowne Centre after leaving Car Free Day on Denman on Saturday.  They have a BOGO sale on right now, so I got some other jewellery as well.  My shoe obsession is a thing of the past, or at least on hold for the moment, but has now been replaced in full force with a dress and jewellery obsession instead.  But I like that I can count on Payless for both my shoe needs and my jewellery needs as well.  I got these earrings at Car Free Day on Main Street Yesterday.  Yes, there were actually two days of Car Free Days this weekend.  I almost walked away from the booth, because I had already bought a lot of jewellery and these earrings were more than I wanted to pay.  But the man at the booth stopped me and said he would throw in a third pair of earrings for free if I bought the two pairs that I was considering.  So I was like yeah, okay.  And I’m glad I did, because they match really well.

Also, check out my nails.  Not only do they match my outfit, but they’re actually decently painted.  I’m totally improving my skills.  I decided to wear some of my old jewellery as well, with my Suzy Shier bracelet and my UBC ring.  I think the old Indian man who sold me the earrings is actually the same one who sold me the ring at UBC.  And the woman I bought the dress from was selling scarves at UBC in the past as well, and I totally bought a lot of stuff from her then too.  I guess avoiding the new student union building is doing absolutely nothing to help curb my spending.  It’s like wherever I go, these people will find me.  Or rather, I will find them.  But at least I know they’ll always be around to satisfy my fashion needs.

Fifty-fifth day of work selfie

This wasn’t what I was originally going to wear today, but I had some unforeseen issues with my initial outfit and this was the next best option. I think I got this dress at Winners.  I hate birds, but I love the bright colours on this dress.  I got the black sweater at Sears.  I have a lot of black sweaters but this is the only one I could find this morning. My pink flip-flop necklace is from a jewellery vendor at the UBC student union building.  It was this necklace that initially drew my attention to that tables, where I then ended up buying three other necklaces and two rings, including the black one I’m wearing here.  I don’t know if you can tell, but my little green earrings from Claire’s are also in the shape of flip-flops.  I got my pink bracelet from a Christmas craft fair at Steveston Community Centre in Richmond.  They threw in the bracelet for free because I’d purchased a few of their necklaces, so this was a nice added bonus.

Forty-first day of work selfie

I got this patterned top and this black sweater at Ross Dress For Less in the States.   I remember there were other colours of the sweater that I contemplated before deciding on the black one.  The white one was nice, but I knew I’d get it dirty.  I already had other black sweaters, but this one was special because of the little diamonds along the zipper.  I like how they match the ones on my necklace.  I love adding a little bit of sparkle to a darker outfit.  I think my hair may have still been wet in this picture.  Who has time to dry their hair in the morning?  I’d rather spend that time putting together an outfit.

Twenty-fifth day of work selfie

Okay, so this isn’t my favourite outfit and the colours are all kind of dark.  But not everyday can be expected to be bright and colourful.  I got this plaid, button down dress from an Orb warehouse sale at Delta Town and Country Inn a few years ago.  I’m generally not a fan of plaid at all and this is one of the few plaid items I actually own.  It was in a box of stuff that was marked 2 for $10, so how could I not buy it?  The brown sweater is from Bryan’s at Lansdowne Centre.  This olive green scarf is from a three pack I ordered from Avon.  The key and flower necklace is from Claire’s.  Sadly, the chain actually broke at the back, so now instead of fastening it with the clasp, I had to actually tie a knot in the chain to keep it together.  But you can’t tell so it’s fine.  I don’t know if you can tell from the picture, but the green earrings I’m wearing, also from Claire’s, are tiny zippers.  I always get comments on them when I wear them since it’s something different.  I have a love/hate relationship with zippers, and these earrings are symbolic of that. I think my hatred of plaid stems from my having to wear a plaid kilt for five years in high school.

Fifth day of work selfie

I decided to continue with some blue in my outfit on my fifth day of work. I don’t know if Casual Fridays are a thing, but I like to keep it classy. After trying on this sweater in like ten different colours at Sears, I decided to get the blue one since it was the brightest of the options (RIP Sears, why are all these stores closing on me?). Not to be outshined by the sweater, the blue sparkly scarf is one of a few sparkly scarves that I purchased at a kiosk in Metrotown (I was Christmas shopping at the time and not supposed to be buying stuff for myself, but who could resist a bright and shiny new scarf?). One of my former coworkers told me that I should get some fish earrings to wear with the scarf since it reminds her of the ocean. The blue belt actually came with the dress from Dynamite that I wore the day before, but since I neglected to wear the belt that day, I decided to give it a chance with this outfit instead. The blue flower necklace which so nicely matches the sweater and the scarf was one of the necklaces I bought at the UBC student union building from one of the vendors. I pretty much bought the most blinged out stuff he had as my reward to myself for getting a new job. Last but not least, I got this little black dress from Ross during one of my trips to the States (I feel like I’m due for another one soon…Road trip anyone?). Now I wish I’d bought the sweater in more colours like I did with the scarf. So I could repeat this outfit with all the colours of the rainbow.
