Eightieth day of work selfie

I went with classic black and white today.  This top is from Costa Blanca.  My friend gave it to me for my birthday a few years ago.  My black sweater is from Forever 21 and my black pants are from Old Navy.  I think black pants and a black sweater are two essential components of any wardrobe.  But I’m glad I don’t have a dress code that requires me to wear them on a daily basis like I did at Jacob.  My long necklace is from Payless.  I remember when I was walking down Main Street on Car Free Day, looking at the jewellery in one of the booths, the woman there said she liked my necklace and asked where I got it.  When I told her Payless, she was like “What?  Payless?  Really?” in a confused and judgemental tone.  I thought “Really, you’re judging me for where I bought my jewellery even though you yourself said it was nice?”.  I didn’t buy anything from her.  I did buy these white earrings from another vendor at Car Free Day though.  I got my bracelet at Carnaval del Sol on Sunday and my ring at UBC a while ago.

Sixty-second day of work selfie

It’s usually cold in the morning, but I thought it would get too hot later in the day for a jean jacket.  But then I decided that I didn’t care because I really wanted to wear it.  I love my denim jackets.  I got this one from Old Navy.  I usually like my denim in the darkest wash possible, but I like this one too.  I shaved my legs a bit better this morning so I could wear a shorter dress.  I made the mistake of shaving my underarms and then putting on deodorant.  It burned.  I won’t be making that mistake again.  Except that I most likely, probably, definitely will.  This black dress is from Stitches.  I used to wear it a lot when I worked at Jacob Lingerie, because of our all black dress code.  I had to wear a tank top under it today since I don’t quite fill it out enough.  I think I made it work without one at Jacob Lingerie, since I invested in a lot of good pushup bras during my time there.  And when you work at a lingerie store, plunging necklines aren’t a problem.  This red necklace was a gift from my grandma.  My bracelet is from Suzy Shier and my ring is from UBC.  I don’t know if you can see my metal earrings, but one is the shape of a toothbrush, and the other is the shape of a tube of toothpaste.  Because why not?  I bought them at a Christmas craft fair at South Arm Community Centre last year.  I wore them to my last dentist appointment because I could.  That was a horrible appointment though, because I had to get a wisdom tooth removed, and I was awake, T3s don’t work for me so I had no painkillers, they had to cut away a lot of gums, and it was painful.  I hate dentists.  So I don’t know why I’d want a reminder of them in the form of jewellery.  It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Thirty-eighth day of work selfie

I got this floral jacket from Suzy Shier at Capilano Mall.  It kind of made me think of like an older lady jacket at the time for some reason but I still liked it.  They also had this style in leopard print, but since I already own so much leopard print, I opted for this colourful one instead.  I think this was my first time wearing it.  I used to not like pairing green and purple together because it made me think of Barney.  But who’s to say Barney’s colour scheme wasn’t fabulous?  Also, is that show even still around?  Do kids today even know about Barney?  Anyway, I love the purples in this garden looking floral jacket.  I got this green top from Jacob at Richmond Centre while I worked there.  I remember one time I wore it and my manager thought I wasn’t following the dress code because she didn’t realize that it was a top that we currently sold.  It’s simple, but I love this shade of green.  I got the matching scarf from one of the scarf vendors in the UBC Sub.  The ends are kind of unravelling a bit at this point and it doesn’t provide that much warmth, but it can still make a fashion statement.  And of course I’m wearing all my favourite green and gold jewellery.

But seriously though, is Barney still a thing?

Fifteenth day of work selfie

I remember buying this purple dress at Urban Behavior at Metrotown.  There are so many different “Urban” stores that it’s easy to get them confused.  I remember it had no price tag on it and it was the only one of its kind.  I hate when that happens.  It always happens with the one item I really want.  And having worked in retail for nine years, I know what a pain in the ass it is for the employees to try and locate the sku.  But they were eventually able to figure it out, and I purchased the dress for $15.  The tank top with the flowers underneath the dress was from Old Navy.  The purple sweater is one of the few I bought at Jacob while I worked there.  Because their dress code was all black, unless you bought and wore their clothes.  Which, even with a 50% discount, were still pricey.  So consequently, I own a lot of black clothes.  My siblings used to call me goth, not understanding that it wasn’t by choice.  I look good in black though, so no complaints, except for the summer months where I was dying from the heat.  I think the scarf might have been from Orb, since I buy a lot of scarves there but I’m not sure.  The earrings and necklace are from Claire’s, because they have a good nickel free selection and ever since I worked there, I’ve bought countless amounts of their cheap jewellery items.  I’m pretty sure I paid a dollar for those earrings.  I love a good deal.
