Sixty-sixth day of work selfie

I’m not dressed very summery today.  But screw the weather, I’ll wear what I want.  Besides, temperatures are supposed to soar this weekend, so I’ll save the summery dresses for that.  I got this top at an Orb warehouse sale.  The red sweater is from Sears and the pants are from Winners.  My Nintendo heart necklace is from Fan Expo Vancouver, my bracelet is from Dollarama, and my ring is from UBC.  My earrings are new, I got them from a vendor at Car Free Day on Main Street on Sunday.  The same vendor I got the blue earrings from, who called me back to his booth to offer me a free third pair of earrings if I bought the first two.  I touched up my nail polish with a clear coat of polish.  Do they look shinier now?  I realized I should have painted them red since Canada Day is coming up next week.  I don’t want to remove the polish and repaint them since they actually look decent.  But it’s okay, I have plenty of red jewellery and clothing to make up for it.

Fiftieth day of work selfie

Since Wednesday was supposed to be another cold and possibly rainy day, I reluctantly decided to wear pants, despite the fact that I had shaved my legs just a few days earlier.  These black pants are from Target and are a bit lighter than my Marshalls ones.  I got this top at Sears at Richmond Centre not too long before they closed.  My dad put it on his Sears card so it would be cheaper.  Thanks Dad!  Since the weather was cooler, I decided on my red Vero Moda blazer from The Bay.  This worked well, since these pants lack pockets, but this blazer has quite spacious ones.  My black scarf is from an Orb warehouse sale, my red video game heart necklace is from Fan Expo Vancouver, my red earrings are from a kiosk at Lansdowne Centre, my ring is from UBC, and my bracelet is from Dollarama.  It had also been five days since I’d washed my hair, and I didn’t plan on doing so anytime soon.  Whenever I happen to take the time to straighten my hair, I like to wait as long as I possibly can in order to prolong the effects.

Forty-ninth day of work selfie

So I wore a dress with no leggings on Tuesday, not realizing how cold it actually was.  What a fail.  If there was ever a day when I should have worn pants, that was probably it.  But my leg hair was growing back fast, and I wanted to go bare legged while I still could without having to shave again.  I’m stubborn that way.  I don’t dress based on the weather.  I dress based on whether or not I’ve shaved, and based on what clean clothes I can find that sort of match.  I knew it might be cold and rainy that day, but I didn’t care.

This dress is slightly longer than my other dresses, so somehow I thought that would make it more weather appropriate.  I got it at an Orb warehouse sale at the River Rock Casino.  I feel like I should be wearing a cowboy hat or something, just because I’m wearing denim.  When I was in high school, at an all girls school, they had an idea one year that they would make Valentine’s Day fun by making it a “couples day”, where you could find a partner and dress as some sort of famous couple.  My friend and I did Brokeback Mountain.  I was Heath Ledger.  And I was amazing.  But we unfortunately didn’t win a prize for our awesome efforts.  Probably because it was also a Catholic school and they weren’t ready to accept our same sex love story.

Anyway, I love jean jackets.  I got this one at Old Navy on Robson Street downtown when I had leftover super cash to spend.  I didn’t want to wear an actual rain jacket or anything even though it was cold, because it’s June and I’ve set aside the boots and the jackets.  But this jean jacket seemed acceptable.  It looks as though I haven’t quite set aside the scarves just as yet.  At least not for cold days.  I got this one from a vendor at the UBC Sub.  I got the red necklace as a Christmas gift from my grandma.  The Supernatural wing earrings are from Fan Expo Vancouver, my ring is from UBC, and my bracelet is from Suzy Shier.  I thought about touching up my nails, but I think they’re too far gone now so I’ll just let them keep chipping away until there’s nothing left to see.

Thirtieth day of work selfie

I literally bought this dress at Winners the day before I wore it.  I had tried it on over the weekend and regrettably not bought it, so when I went back to look for it and it was still there, I knew that it was meant to be.  I just fell in love with the shape and the pattern and everything about it.  I paired it with my pink cardigan from the Plenty Warehouse sale, because I felt like it matched well, and I had vowed to wear the hell out of it.  I was going to the New Kids On the Block concert right after work that day, so I wanted an outfit that was fun.  My shiny metallic scarf is pretty much my concert scarf because I like that it stands out.  I got my heart necklace from a vendor at Fan Expo Vancouver this year, which was the same weekend as the Plenty sale.  I like the style because it’s supposed to be like those life hearts in video games.  My earrings are from Claire’s, my ring is from UBC, and I do believe that is another dollar store bracelet.  Still not ashamed.

I’m so glad that I was able to cure my non-buyer’s remorse by going back for this dress.

Thirteenth day of work selfie

I got this purple sweater dress from Bryan’s.  I remember one time I wore it with a belt, and then I took the bus, and then when I got off the bus, I realized I was no longer wearing the belt.  Sadly, the clasp had come undone, unbeknownst to me.  And I couldn’t find a replacement belt the day I wore it here, so I used safety pins to secure the front.  Because I’m resourceful like that.  Like MacGyver. I don’t know where I got the navy cardigan from.  Possible also from Bryan’s.  I used to buy a lot of stuff there, at the Lansdowne Centre location.  I remember my friend saying she wonders how they’re still in business.  Probably because of people like me.  This navy blue scarf with the flowers came in a three pack from Avon.  Which I’m still selling, if anyone cares.  I’m assuming no one does.  I don’t even care.  There’s only so much makeup and random stuff you can order for yourself before you realize you’re not really benefiting from this.  My silver heart necklace is from Payless.  Yes, I buy jewellery at a shoe store.  Because they have a decent selection of nickel free jewellery.  And it was shiny.  I bought this pair of wing earrings from a booth at Fan Expo Vancouver this year.  It was listed under Supernatural jewellery.  Because they’re supposed to represent Castiel.  I also bought a matching necklace, which I’ll be sure to wear another time.  Of all the fandoms, Supernatural is my favourite.  They have their own convention in August, which I kind of want to go to, although I heard from a friend that the people there tend to be crazier than the ones at Fan Expo.  And it’s kind of pricey.  So we shall see.

I’m glad it’s spring and it’s sunny and the weather’s nice, but a small part of me wishes I could go back to the cooler months and wear more of my sweater dresses.

Tenth day of work selfie

I must confess that I am not 100% sure of where I bought this dress, but I think it was from Ross.  I have a lot of dresses with floral patterns, which I have a love/hate relationship with.  Why?  Because flowers attract bees and other insects.  And regardless of what I’m wearing, I tend to attract them myself, so I definitely don’t need the added attraction that the flowers tend to bring.  But they’re pretty, so I wear them anyway.  I got the blue cardigan from the Plenty Warehouse Sale at the Vancouver Convention Centre a few weeks ago.  It was on Easter weekend, the same weekend as Fan Expo Vancouver.  So I was able to be nerdy, religious, and a shopaholic all at the same time.  Best thing about this cardigan? The pockets.  I got my blue earrings from Claire’s.  I used to love wearing huge earrings, but lately I’ve settled for tiny ones, so as not to hurt or stretch my ear lobes.  I repeated my scarf, necklace, and ring in this outfit, because they match, and because I can.

I really wish there was a way I could wear outfits with flowers without attracting insects.  That’s the dream.
