Sixty-eighth day of work selfie

I’m all pretty in pink today.  Is it too much?  Well if it is, I don’t care.  I got this dress at Car Free Day on Denman Street a couple weekends ago.  They had it in other colours, but the pink one was the most vibrant and just felt right for summer.  The purple tank top I’m wearing under it is from Smart Set.  My pink sweater is from the Plenty warehouse sale at the Vancouver Convention Centre on Easter weekend.  I know it’s hot, but when I’m in the office, the temperature is more regulated so I don’t really notice the heat or humidity until I go outside.  Maybe I should just leave a sweater in my office, since I don’t really need one when I’m outside before or after work.

I’ve been buying a lot of fancy jewellery lately.  I got this necklace at Greek Day on Broadway yesterday.  I have a similar one in blue that I got from Payless and I got complimented on it, so I thought I’d buy another necklace in that style.  I bought a pair of matching earrings as well, but they are kind of heavy so I didn’t wear them.  I knew they were heavy when I bought them, but I really wanted a matching set.  Maybe next time, I will just wear them briefly for photos and then take them off.  Instead, I decided to wear my pink flip flop earrings which are more lightweight.  I got my shiny bracelet from Car Free Day on Main Street a couple weekends ago.  I somehow didn’t have a pink or purple bracelet to pair with this outfit.  We’ll have to change that soon.

I love this purple ring that I got at Greek Day yesterday.  But it’s kind of tight.  I didn’t realize until afterwards how tight it is.  And I got a second ring in this size too.  The guy selling them told me it would be okay because my fingers would be less swelled up in the morning when I put on the ring.  But contrary to that, I felt like my fingers were actually more swelled up this morning and the ring felt even tighter.  I tried on the ring on my left hand just to see the difference, and my ring finger on that hand is somehow fatter.  I couldn’t even get the ring off, so I concluded that I must be married to myself now.  I managed to remove it using some lotion.  Is it possible to lose weight in your finger?  Is that a thing?  Maybe tight rings are like a corset for your finger?  I don’t want to hurt myself though.  But I feel like my finger fluctuates in terms of swelling throughout the day, because sometimes I feel like the ring maybe fits and other times I’m like nope, this is definitely way too tight.  I wonder if the guy will let me exchange them.  Except he doesn’t have a physical store and I don’t know what event he’ll be at next.  What a fail.   Maybe I’ll have to find someone who has a more slender finger than I do and bestow a lovely gift upon them.  Or sell it because I paid good money for it.  And also find someone who likes heavy earrings.  Or just keep everything and suffer through the discomfort because beauty is pain.

Fortieth day of work selfie

This outfit is kind of dull, but not every day has to be super fancy.  You may have also noticed my lack of makeup for several weeks.  That’s a combination of lack of time and lack of caring and also the fact that I don’t really find it necessary everyday.  Once in a while, I may feel like it, but the majority of the time I’m perfectly fine without it.  The best thing about this is at the end of the day, not having to remove it.  You wouldn’t believe how much relief it is to not have to spend time trying to properly remove your makeup before you go to bed.

This top is from an Orb warehouse sale.  The random ruffles across it elevate it out of it’s otherwise plain status.  The grey sweater is from Jacob.  It originally came with a belt, but who knows what happened to that?  I’ll probably keep wearing these black Marshalls pants until I shave my legs and go back to wearing dresses.  But who knows when that will finally happen?  Your guess is as good as mine.  I will keep wearing my UBC Sub jewellery until it breaks.

Along with lack of makeup, you may have also noticed my lack of doing anything with my hair.  What am I supposed to do with it?  My hair just doesn’t naturally shape well and is always super frizzy.  I usually don’t have time or just don’t remember to attempt to add product to smooth it out.  My method of doing my hair involves tying it back in a messy ponytail and hoping for the best.  Then later, removing the hair tie and seeing how it looks down.  And if it’s not acceptable, putting it back in a ponytail.  The frizziness of my hair seems to be immune to hair products.  Oh well.

Twenty-seventh day of work selfie

I bought this dress during one of my Vegas trips at a random store on the Vegas strip.  It was one of those shops where they sell souvenir Vegas t-shirts and stuff like that.  I like dresses and tops in this style because they’re so stretchy and flowy and comfortable (WordPress is indicating to me that “flowy” is not a word, and tried to autocorrect it to “flawy” instead.  What the hell is flawy?  And yes, flowy is a word.  This dress is not flawy, if anything, it’s flawless.  It’s like there’s a whole damn garden on the bottom of my dress.).  I was going to pair it with my orange scarf to match the flowers and butterflies, but I couldn’t find it so I settled for this green one that I got from an Orb Warehouse sale.  I got this denim jacket from GUESS at Richmond Centre.  I don’t wear jeans anymore, but I still like to rock the jean jackets every now and then.  I never really shopped at GUESS until I won a gift card at a shopping event at Pacific Centre a few years ago and spent most of it at that store.  Ever since, it’s been one of my favourites, but I try to only buy stuff there when it’s on sale.  Since the dress looks kind of fancy, I thought maybe the denim would tone it down a bit for more of casual look.  Since there’s already so much colour going on in the outfit, I thought mostly silver jewellery would be best, with my Payless heart necklace and my Supernatural Fan Expo angel wing earrings.  Because butterfly wings don’t have to be the only type of wings in an outfit.
