And we’re back to dresses. I got this dress at a vendor at Fiji Day at Swanguard Stadium in Burnaby on Saturday. My sister was working at the event at the face painting booth, and my dad was like “Are you going? Don’t you go to all the festivals?” so I decided to check it out. I’m annoyed, because I have two other dresses in this style, that I got from the vendor I usually buy from at street festivals. Why am I annoyed? Because the vendor I bought this new dress from on Saturday sells the same style of dresses for less than half the price that I’ve been paying at the other place. They didn’t have as many different kinds though. I have the same dress in red, but slightly shorter, which I was actually wearing when I bought this one. There was a black and grey one as well, but my friend bought it, so I went with the brown one. I like that they’re easy to just try on over what you’re already wearing, and that they’re stretchy and one size fits all. My blue cardigan is from Forever 21. I got my necklace from Payless and my earrings from a vendor at Car Free Day on Main Street. My bracelet is from a vendor at Carnaval del Sol a couple weekends ago, and my ring is from a vendor at the Blim Market Festival on Granville Street that I went to yesterday. I also go a new iPhone case at Aldo yesterday. My hand is covering it, but it says #SELFIE on it. I felt like that was appropriate for me.
I got this dress at Car Free Day on Commercial Drive a couple weeks ago. It’s a bit longer than my other dresses and stops right at my knees. Which is kind of weird, because it feels like it should be right above or right below. Like either cover my knees or don’t. It’s probably meant to be a full length dress on a short girl. I tried it on over my own dress at at Car Free Day. There was a mirror, but it was kind of low down, so I crouched down on the street to see how it looked. I paired it with my favourite blue sweater from Forever 21. My necklace is from Payless and my earrings are from a vendor at Greek Day. I wish they’d had the earrings in the same blue as my necklace. They are a bit heavy, but I don’t care because I love them. They were similar enough to my necklace that I thought they would go together. I’m constantly wearing mismatched sets, and pairing gold jewellery with silver jewellery. But I like it that way. My blue bracelet is from Sears and my green ring is from Boca Raton Designs at Greek Day. I wanted a blue one, but the blue ring they had was even smaller than this and wouldn’t have even fit on my finger, let alone been too tight. The little bit of what’s left of my chipped nail polish matches my outfit. I’m wearing another pair of new shoes today as well, but again, you can’t see them.
It was kind of chilly this morning, so I kind of wished I’d worn a blazer instead of just grabbing a random sweater. But the weather is actually really nice right now so I have no regrets about my decision. I decided to repeat another black dress with flowers on it, this time from Suzy Shier. You can never have too many black dresses with flowers on them. I paired it with my purple H&M sweater, which I’ve been making good use of since purchasing it a couple months ago. I like that it’s the same type of purple as the purple flowers on my dress. Next time I wear this dress, I will pick a different flower colour and choose a sweater accordingly. My beaded necklace, zipper earrings, and flower bracelet are all from Claire’s and my ring is from The UBC student union building. I wonder if there are any jewellery vendors in the new student building right now. I’ve yet to enter the new building, partly because I don’t feel like walking over there, and partly because I’m annoyed that it’s so nice and spacious and I totally could have used a building like that when I was a student, but have no need for it anymore. I already work in a nice building, so I don’t really need to go all the way over there just to be in another nice building. I think I’ll wait until I hear about any jewellery vendors being in there, and then I’ll maybe drop in and have a look.
Why yes, this is a new dress. Thanks for noticing. I managed to drag my ass out of the house yesterday to go to Italian Day on Commercial Drive with my friend. I’m not the hugest fan of street festivals, mainly because I hate crowds, but I like to attend them occasionally and it was fun. Hot and crowded, but fun. I shaved my legs really quickly in the morning before leaving the house, but my electric razor died before I was done. But I figured it was okay that I didn’t fully shave, since that could be my way of celebrating Italian Day. Since people in European countries aren’t as obsessed with shaving as we are in North America. There were lots of booths and vendors selling various goods and food. Of course I would stop to look at the ones with dresses. I can’t remember which store this one was from, but they had a booth set up and some of the racks had dresses priced at 2 for $30. So this is one of the 2 I decided on. I didn’t try them on, so I wasn’t sure if they would fit properly, but I decided to risk it. It’s a little loose, but otherwise fits well. Better too big than too small, because I’m not going to try squish into a dress that doesn’t fit. My only regret is that I didn’t buy a Janet Jackson shirt that they had in the same booth, especially since she’s touring this summer and I could’ve worn it to her concert. But maybe I can go back and still find at some point. I really like this dress because it’s so bright and colourful. And it just so happened that my green Ross cardigan would match exactly the colour of green in the dress. It’s like it was meant to be. I wore it with my green and gold jewellery, necklace and ring from UBC, earrings from a Lansdowne kiosk, and bracelet from Dollarama. Yay for adding more colourful dresses to my wardrobe!
Okay, so this is definitely my new favourite blazer! I noticed it when I was at London Drugs a few times, and eventually decided to try it on. Then I didn’t buy it right away, but went back a couple days later and made it mine. I’ve never bought clothes at London Drugs before. Usually it’s my main stop for food and health and beauty essentials. Who knew it was also a great place for professional clothing? They sell Vero Moda stuff there now for decent prices so this may not be the end of my buying clothing there, since I love Vero Moda and Vero Moda blazers. Grey may be considered kind of plain, but I just love the shape and the fit of this blazer so much. I paired it with the blue dress that I had worn on my first day of work with a different Vero Moda blazer. This dress just seems to go well with blazers. I got this Swarovski necklace as a Christmas present a few years ago from my cousins. It’s my favourite shorter necklace and I’ll be wearing it more now that it’s warmer and I don’t need to cover up with scarves. I got my music note earrings at a jewellery vendor at the PNE last summer, along with a few other random silver earrings in the shapes of various objects.London Drugs might just be my new favourite clothing store.
Blogger friends, do you know if it’s possible to create a new blog but transfer posts from my old blog to the new one? Or to change my blogging name & website? Or any advice you would give me if I’m thinking of starting over? Thanks!
It’s been a while. I think I maybe wrote two blog posts last year. If you can call them blog posts when they’re that short. I would like to start over. Most people try starting over in various aspects of their lives on January 1st, the start of a new year. But I’m not most people. I wasn’t ready in February either, nor March. But what better time to start over than on April Fool’s Day? Since I often feel as though my life is one big joke, I thought it seemed fitting. And if you know me at all, you know that I’m a very honest person, so my wanting to blog again is no joke. There are many aspects of my life in which I would like to start over and figure things out.
I really feel like I need a new title. Random and unnewsworthy was sort of an inside joke type thing that I just randomly came up with after talking to a friend. It’s like that Grade 8 email address you made when you got your first hotmail account and you’re kind of ashamed of it now because what the hell were you thinking with a name that dumb? And you’ve since, I would hope, created a far more professional email address which now includes your name. I remember I originally just wanted to use my name for my blog title. Because why not? And my friend convinced me not to. But is that bad an idea?
So again, any advice you could give me would be so appreciated! I miss this and since I finally updated my iPhone to iOS 8, I may be able to blog with more ease. But I don’t want to just sporadically leave random posts on this blog. This blog is old news. Or old unnews, I guess. I need to figure out something new.
