Ninety-seventh day of work selfie

Red is a strong and bold colour, so why not wear it as often as you can?  This dress is more of an orangey red, but it’s still a good red.  I got this dress from my favourite street festival vendor at Carnaval del Sol at Pacific Conford Place.  It is the same style as my favourite blue dress, but with the added designs and peacock feathers on the bottom.  I love this style because you don’t even have to worry about a back and a front because it’s exactly the same either way you put it on.  And it’s so comfortable and stretchy and flowy.

I got my red sweater from Sirens, I think.  I just noticed there is sadly a hole in the sleeve.  So I did what any capable adult would do, and I stapled that hole shut in my office.  I’m ever so resourceful with my office supplies.  I got my necklace from Greek Day on Broadway and my earrings from Car Free Day on Main Street.  I got my ring from UBC.  I don’t actually know where I got my bracelet from.  It just sort of turned up and I was like alright, I’ll wear it.

Eighty-second day of work selfie

And we’re back to dresses.  I got this dress at a vendor at Fiji Day at Swanguard Stadium in Burnaby on Saturday.  My sister was working at the event at the face painting booth, and my dad was like “Are you going?  Don’t you go to all the festivals?” so I decided to check it out.  I’m annoyed, because I have two other dresses in this style, that I got from the vendor I usually buy from at street festivals.  Why am I annoyed?  Because the vendor I bought this new dress from on Saturday sells the same style of dresses for less than half the price that I’ve been paying at the other place.  They didn’t have as many different kinds though.  I have the same dress in red, but slightly shorter, which I was actually wearing when I bought this one.  There was a black and grey one as well, but my friend bought it, so I went with the brown one.  I like that they’re easy to just try on over what you’re already wearing, and that they’re stretchy and one size fits all.   My blue cardigan is from Forever 21.  I got my necklace from Payless and my earrings from a vendor at Car Free Day on Main Street.  My bracelet is from a vendor at Carnaval del Sol a couple weekends ago, and my ring is from a vendor at the Blim Market Festival on Granville Street that I went to yesterday.  I also go a new iPhone case at Aldo yesterday.  My hand is covering it, but it says #SELFIE on it.  I felt like that was appropriate for me.

Sixty-ninth day of work selfie

I thought I would wear something red in my outfit today since tomorrow is Canada Day.  I don’t know if you can tell but if you look closely you can see that my earrings are little Canada flags.  I found them at Claire’s and thought they were cute.  My red top is from Suzy Shier from several years ago.  I just bought this skirt at Old Navy over the weekend.  I think it may actually be the only skirt I have that fits me right now.  Wearing dresses is so much easier.  Less pieces of clothing to put together.  My outfit doesn’t even really match right now but oh well.  I was trying to find a sweater this morning and my mom looked outside and was like “Does it look like you need a sweater?”.  But I explained that I like to wear one in the office because the temperature is good inside the building.  I just grabbed this black Bryan’s cardigan before I left the house.

I unfortunately did not get a matching Canada flag necklace to go with my earrings, so I wore this key and rose Claire’s necklace instead.  My bracelet is from Dollarama and my purple ring is from Boca Raton Designs at Greek Day.  Yes, I’m still wearing it even though it’s too tight.  I tried contacting the vendor, because I have his business card but I haven’t received a response.  I don’t expect him to take it back, but it would be nice if he could let me exchange the second ring I bought, which seems to be even tighter than this one.  Also I got my eyebrows done last week if anyone cares.  Can you even tell or should I not have bothered?

Forty-fourth day of work selfie

When I came home from work that day, my sister asked me if I’ve been wearing more suits lately.  I told her I don’t wear suits.  I guess she meant blazers.  Which I guess I have been wearing more often.  Apparently she’s noticed.  I’ve had this black blazer from Bryan’s for a while now but had yet to wear it.   It’s kind of looser fitting than my other blazers, but I like it.  I like being able to look professional without looking super feminine sometimes.  I got this red shirt at Dynamite a while ago and this was my first time wearing it as well.  It was a little wrinkled, but you can’t tell because I covered it up.  My red scarf is from a kiosk in Metrotown, and my red heart necklace, which is unfortunately blocked by my scarf, is from Carleton Cards and has my birthstone.  I like buying jewellery from places you wouldn’t expect.

Twentieth day of work selfie

I got this red dress from Forever 21 at Metrotown a few years ago.  I remember I was shopping with my friend at the time and when I asked what she thought of it, she said she didn’t like it.  But I liked it, so I bought it anyway.  I think I got the black sweater from Sirens, possibly when there was still a location at Richmond Centre.  I remember getting crappy service there, but I liked the stuff they sold.  The shiny red scarf is yet another from the kiosk at Metrotown.  They had a deal where the more you buy, the more you save, so of course I bought more.  I think the red earrings were from a kiosk in Lansdowne.  I remember I bought a necklace to match, but one day I wore it and then when I got home, the pendant was gone and I was left with just the chain.  So upsetting.

The shapes and patterns in this dress kind of make me think of modern art.

Sixth day of work selfie

Red is supposed to be a bold, strong, confident colour. And why wouldn’t I want to exude those qualities? I bought this red sweater at Sears last year, before it closed down. A friend of mine had mentioned how stuff was on sale and how she bought clothes from the Jessica line so I decided to follow suit. The sweater with the roses was from the same kiosk in Metrotown where I bought my shiny scarves. I’m actually wearing matching red rose rain boots that I got from The Bay, but sadly they are not pictured here, as I do not have access to a full length mirror. I believe it was sunny that day, because of course it would be on a day when I wear rain boots. I think the black dress was actually from La Vie En Rose. Despite being a lingerie store, they surprisingly have a lot of clothing items that are perfectly acceptable for everyday wear. No one would know the difference.  I just realized that I’m wearing a ROSE scarf with a dress from La Vie En ROSE. What a coincidence.
