One hundredth day of work selfie

After all that colour, I thought I would go back to classic black and white.  I got this dress from the Guess outlet store in Las Vegas last year.  It’s a really nice summer dress, but I don’t wear it that often because I don’t wear white that often.  Because I’m a messy person and white always gets dirty.  Like I just noticed a tiny blue spot at the bottom of the dress.  I have no idea what it is.  Nail polish maybe?  I can’t think of any other blue substance this dress may have come into contact with.  It’s very small and unnoticeable though, thankfully.  Wait, I think I’ve gone and stained it slightly in another spot with avocado from lunch.  Damnit.  I knew this would happen.

My black blazer is new.  I got it from Winners.  It was just so snazzy looking that I had to try it on.  I had intended to save it for the fall, but it was cool enough out today that I thought I would bring it out early.  Everyone needs a black blazer as part of their professional wardrobe.

I got my necklace from Sears and my earrings from Payless.  My shiny bracelet is from Car Free Day on Main Street and my shiny black ring is from Carnaval del Sol at Conford Pacific Place.  Black and white doesn’t have to be dull if you glam it up a bit.

Sixty-eighth day of work selfie

I’m all pretty in pink today.  Is it too much?  Well if it is, I don’t care.  I got this dress at Car Free Day on Denman Street a couple weekends ago.  They had it in other colours, but the pink one was the most vibrant and just felt right for summer.  The purple tank top I’m wearing under it is from Smart Set.  My pink sweater is from the Plenty warehouse sale at the Vancouver Convention Centre on Easter weekend.  I know it’s hot, but when I’m in the office, the temperature is more regulated so I don’t really notice the heat or humidity until I go outside.  Maybe I should just leave a sweater in my office, since I don’t really need one when I’m outside before or after work.

I’ve been buying a lot of fancy jewellery lately.  I got this necklace at Greek Day on Broadway yesterday.  I have a similar one in blue that I got from Payless and I got complimented on it, so I thought I’d buy another necklace in that style.  I bought a pair of matching earrings as well, but they are kind of heavy so I didn’t wear them.  I knew they were heavy when I bought them, but I really wanted a matching set.  Maybe next time, I will just wear them briefly for photos and then take them off.  Instead, I decided to wear my pink flip flop earrings which are more lightweight.  I got my shiny bracelet from Car Free Day on Main Street a couple weekends ago.  I somehow didn’t have a pink or purple bracelet to pair with this outfit.  We’ll have to change that soon.

I love this purple ring that I got at Greek Day yesterday.  But it’s kind of tight.  I didn’t realize until afterwards how tight it is.  And I got a second ring in this size too.  The guy selling them told me it would be okay because my fingers would be less swelled up in the morning when I put on the ring.  But contrary to that, I felt like my fingers were actually more swelled up this morning and the ring felt even tighter.  I tried on the ring on my left hand just to see the difference, and my ring finger on that hand is somehow fatter.  I couldn’t even get the ring off, so I concluded that I must be married to myself now.  I managed to remove it using some lotion.  Is it possible to lose weight in your finger?  Is that a thing?  Maybe tight rings are like a corset for your finger?  I don’t want to hurt myself though.  But I feel like my finger fluctuates in terms of swelling throughout the day, because sometimes I feel like the ring maybe fits and other times I’m like nope, this is definitely way too tight.  I wonder if the guy will let me exchange them.  Except he doesn’t have a physical store and I don’t know what event he’ll be at next.  What a fail.   Maybe I’ll have to find someone who has a more slender finger than I do and bestow a lovely gift upon them.  Or sell it because I paid good money for it.  And also find someone who likes heavy earrings.  Or just keep everything and suffer through the discomfort because beauty is pain.

Sixty-sixth day of work selfie

I’m not dressed very summery today.  But screw the weather, I’ll wear what I want.  Besides, temperatures are supposed to soar this weekend, so I’ll save the summery dresses for that.  I got this top at an Orb warehouse sale.  The red sweater is from Sears and the pants are from Winners.  My Nintendo heart necklace is from Fan Expo Vancouver, my bracelet is from Dollarama, and my ring is from UBC.  My earrings are new, I got them from a vendor at Car Free Day on Main Street on Sunday.  The same vendor I got the blue earrings from, who called me back to his booth to offer me a free third pair of earrings if I bought the first two.  I touched up my nail polish with a clear coat of polish.  Do they look shinier now?  I realized I should have painted them red since Canada Day is coming up next week.  I don’t want to remove the polish and repaint them since they actually look decent.  But it’s okay, I have plenty of red jewellery and clothing to make up for it.

Sixty-fifth day of work selfie

No, your eyes do not deceive you, I am indeed wearing pants.  I heard it would be cloudy and overcast today so I thought I would take a bit of a break from the dresses.  As much as I would love to live the rest of my life without having to wear pants, it’s just not that feasible.  At least I got the opportunity to wear this shiny leopard print top from Ross Dress For Less.  Yay, my outfit matches my Winners iPhone case.  I should probably switch up my phone case at some point, I’ve had this one on there for a while now.  But it’s just so sturdy and well fitted, not like other cases that can be flimsy and nondurable.  I love my phone, and when you love something, you want to protect it.  Since my top is shiny, I paired it with my shiny Aritzia sweater.  I just got these pants from Winners.  They’re not full length pants, because I refuse to wear full length pants in the summer.  Apparently I’m a size large when it comes to pants at Winners.  My leopard print heart necklace is from Payless, my earrings are from Claire’s, and my ring is from UBC.  I got my shiny bracelet at Car Free Day on Main Street on Sunday.  Shiny outfits don’t just have to be for special occasions.  Sometimes you just want to add a little sparkle on a typical Wednesday work day.

Thirtieth day of work selfie

I literally bought this dress at Winners the day before I wore it.  I had tried it on over the weekend and regrettably not bought it, so when I went back to look for it and it was still there, I knew that it was meant to be.  I just fell in love with the shape and the pattern and everything about it.  I paired it with my pink cardigan from the Plenty Warehouse sale, because I felt like it matched well, and I had vowed to wear the hell out of it.  I was going to the New Kids On the Block concert right after work that day, so I wanted an outfit that was fun.  My shiny metallic scarf is pretty much my concert scarf because I like that it stands out.  I got my heart necklace from a vendor at Fan Expo Vancouver this year, which was the same weekend as the Plenty sale.  I like the style because it’s supposed to be like those life hearts in video games.  My earrings are from Claire’s, my ring is from UBC, and I do believe that is another dollar store bracelet.  Still not ashamed.

I’m so glad that I was able to cure my non-buyer’s remorse by going back for this dress.

Thirteenth day of work selfie

I got this purple sweater dress from Bryan’s.  I remember one time I wore it with a belt, and then I took the bus, and then when I got off the bus, I realized I was no longer wearing the belt.  Sadly, the clasp had come undone, unbeknownst to me.  And I couldn’t find a replacement belt the day I wore it here, so I used safety pins to secure the front.  Because I’m resourceful like that.  Like MacGyver. I don’t know where I got the navy cardigan from.  Possible also from Bryan’s.  I used to buy a lot of stuff there, at the Lansdowne Centre location.  I remember my friend saying she wonders how they’re still in business.  Probably because of people like me.  This navy blue scarf with the flowers came in a three pack from Avon.  Which I’m still selling, if anyone cares.  I’m assuming no one does.  I don’t even care.  There’s only so much makeup and random stuff you can order for yourself before you realize you’re not really benefiting from this.  My silver heart necklace is from Payless.  Yes, I buy jewellery at a shoe store.  Because they have a decent selection of nickel free jewellery.  And it was shiny.  I bought this pair of wing earrings from a booth at Fan Expo Vancouver this year.  It was listed under Supernatural jewellery.  Because they’re supposed to represent Castiel.  I also bought a matching necklace, which I’ll be sure to wear another time.  Of all the fandoms, Supernatural is my favourite.  They have their own convention in August, which I kind of want to go to, although I heard from a friend that the people there tend to be crazier than the ones at Fan Expo.  And it’s kind of pricey.  So we shall see.

I’m glad it’s spring and it’s sunny and the weather’s nice, but a small part of me wishes I could go back to the cooler months and wear more of my sweater dresses.

Ninth day of work selfie

I had like 50 shades of grey in my outfit that day. I got this dress at Urban Planet a while ago but this was my first time wearing it. You may not be able to see it, but there are sparkles on it along with the black flowers, so I decided to pair it with my sparkly metallic scarf from the Metrotown kiosk. I wish I could remember the name of the kiosk. There are two of them in that mall. Going with my grey theme, I decided to wear the sweater I bought at Jacob while I worked there, and while the store was still in business. I got the earrings, necklace, and bracelet from Claire’s. I know it’s like a little girl’s store, but it’s one of the few places where I can get nickel free jewellery. And I think I still feel somewhat connected to it since it was my first permanent job, even if it wasn’t the greatest. And the ring is from the vendor in the UBC sub. I think the only rings I own are the two that I bought at UBC because I’ve never really been much of a ring person. Who says grey has to be boring?
